Hi Reader,
Last week we went plant-only. This time? We’re going full protein multiverse. Meat. Fish. If it flexes, it’s invited. The only thing still OFF the menu is humans (seriously, Carl, stop asking. It's getting weird.). Whether you’re lifting weights or just lifting a fork, it’s time to bulk up your plates.
🥣 Crunch Time for Your Abs
If you are one more egg-white omelet away from filing a restraining order against a chicken, behold Catalina Crunch. This is a cereal engineered to deliver protein without turning your blood glucose into a theme park ride. It was literally invented by a diabetic founder who refused to give up cereal. That’s not just grit. That’s grrreat (but legally distinct from Tony the Tiger™).
Then there’s Protein Muesli, the Swiss-born breakfast that says, “I hike the Alps and journal about it.” Invented in the early 1900s as a health food, it’s basically granola with a doctorate. Modern versions pile on nuts and seeds for extra protein. Add a scoop of Peanut Butter and suddenly your bowl is bulking. Congratulations. You’ve turned breakfast into a mass-terpiece. This is how you seize the whey. 🐮

Fish That Lifts 🐠
Let’s dive into the protein pool. Literally. Salmon and tuna are aquatic overachievers, clocking in around 20–25 grams of protein per serving. They also bring along omega-3 fatty acids, which support heart and brain health. So while you’re building muscle, you’re also building back the ability to remember why you walked into the kitchen.
Tuna was once branded “chicken of the sea,” which feels like an identity crisis. But make no mistake: tuna is lean, dense, and built like it meal-preps on Sundays. Salmon? Rich, flavorful, and full of all the healthy fats that make dietitians nod at you knowingly.
But if you want the true oceanic protein flex, say hello to sea scallops. By calorie, they’re mostly protein. They are basically edible kettlebells. Also, scallops can have up to 200 tiny eyes. Two hundred. Which means when you cook them, they probably saw it coming. Pro-tip: Pan-sear them in butter for two minutes per side and you get caramelized, golden perfection. It’s suspiciously easy. Like, “Why am I not an elite coastal chef?” easy. Shell we continue? No need to ask; you’re already hooked. 🪝🐟

Sausage Party 🌭
Now for the plot twist no carnivore saw coming. Nuggets. Burgers. Sausages. You’re picturing backyard barbecues and grill marks, right? Surprise. These are plant-based. And they are disturbingly convincing. Like, “wax museum replica” creepy-level convincing.
Modern plant meats use pea protein, soy, or wheat protein engineered for texture and flavor. Some even use plant-derived heme (the iron-containing molecule that gives meat its savory punch). Science looked at a burger and said, “We can rebuild him.” And they did. Stronger. Tastier. Smarter (as a food choice).
And these protein levels rival traditional meat. Environmental impact? Way lower than beef. Flavor? Shockingly legit. If you haven’t tried plant-based meats recently, you’re running on outdated taste firmware. The vegans have been in the lab, and they’ve emerged victorious. Try something new, and make your life coach proud. The future is here, and it tastes medium-rare-ish. 🥩
