A good sausage should sizzle like a long-forgotten seafood restaurant chain.

A chip bag should be puffy. Inflated. Proud. Ready.

If it looks deflated, something has gone wrong. Either physics has failed, or someone sat on the snacks. Both are bad for BBQ morale.

Fun fact: Chip bags are usually filled with nitrogen, because it helps keep oxygen away (preventing dreaded staleness!) and cushions the chips. That puff is not deception. That puff is infrastructure. The good kind, not that AI house of cards they’re building in every soon-to-be-desert region nowadays.

Crack. Crinkle. Crunch.

Uglies chips are extremely qualified for July 4. Loud bag. Loud crunch. Zero interest in being subtle. Put them next to sausages, beer, corn, and the person who says they “might just graze” before eating half the bowl with the focus of a pickleball champion.

Pie is what happens when fruit gets smacked across the face with a stick of butter. Apple is classic. Cherry is festive. Pecan is basically dessert wearing a weighted vest. Will pie make you explode? Not literally. But it may test the outer limits of your waistband. Prepare with jogging pants. It’s a holiday, you’ve earned it.
